Stamped crates and stencilled names once moved Scotland's goods from port to provision shop, every box telling you whose hands it had passed through. J. McDonald is our invented merchant's mark in that tradition, printed in full colour on sustainably sourced pine.

Each box is made by hand in our family's workshop in Central Java, by craftspeople we know by name. The grain, the printed label and the small tool marks are the point. The XS size is right for keys, jewellery and trinkets: small enough for a windowsill, handsome enough for a mantelpiece.
