Every Scottish town had its general merchant, the shop that sold everything from paraffin to penny sweets under the family name above the door. A. Macarthur & Co. is our invented mark in that tradition, printed in full colour on sustainably sourced pine.

Each box is made by hand in our family's workshop in Central Java, by craftspeople we know by name. The grain, the printed label and the small tool marks are the point. The large size takes books, blankets and records, or earns its keep as a planter, log store or display crate.
