Woodcarving is one of Bali's oldest crafts: for centuries the island's carvers have filled temples, doorways and homes with figures shaped entirely by hand, with skills passed down from parent to child. Our sitting puppets come from the playful side of that tradition, where a few clever joints bring a carved figure to life.
